Topic: |
Quality In Metrology
We’ve all heard and used the term: "Our
calibrations are traceable to NIST." Most of us have also heard
the following from our managers and supervisors, but mostly from
ISO auditors and FDA inspectors: "If you cannot adjust the test
instrument, you cannot calibrate it." The real travesty about
these statements is that for decades we have believed both of
them. It is time to set the record straight and separate fact
from fiction, and the truth from myth. |

Speaker: |
Jay L Bucher
Jay L. Bucher started his calibration and
metrology career with the U.S. Air Force's Precision
Measurement Equipment Laboratories (PMEL) program, is a
Senior member of ASQ, an ASQ Certified Calibration
Technician (CCT), and a National Conference of Standards
Laboratories International section and region coordinator.
He established Bucherview Metrology Services, LLC (a
consulting, educating and training company) in 2002, and has
consulted for clients ranging from NIST to a third party
one-man calibration function, including more than a dozen
Fortune 400 companies

IDENTIFYING DESIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
IN THE QUALITY PROFESSION
In today’s economy most people consider it
crucial to keep their skills current and their resumes
up-to-date. Do you know what organizations are looking for
in their Quality professionals? It’s an area that requires
not only technical competence but also soft side skills such
as facilitation and presentation skills. Whether you are a
hiring manager, a new hire or a seasoned professional,
everyone has something to contribute to this conversation.
Please join in the discussion and share what skills you seek
when hiring, what qualifications you have noted in recent
recruiting ads, or the qualifications that have made you
marketable |

"Looking
into the Future of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)"
Ten years ago Six Sigma and Design For Six Sigma
were heralded as the keys to improving quality, increasing
profits, and succeeding in the face of worldwide competition.
Companies scrambled to deploy training programs, certify black
belts, and kick off projects. Today some of these programs
continue quietly in the background while many others have fallen
into disrepair or were abandoned.

Quality in
Global Environment:
The
Opportunities and Challenges Of Doing Business in Asia
Manufacturing in the U.S. is too costly for most
products, right? Maybe or maybe not. Global sourcing is not
without inherent risks some of which are not readily apparent up
front, and present a new set of challenges to companies which in
many cases they are unprepared for. The biggest problem is that
most companies don't know the full extent of their exposure to
risk in outsourcing.

“LEAN PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
How to Use Risk Determination to Increase
Velocity of Product Development”
Product Development is the lifeblood of
an organization. Successful Future product and service offerings keep
the customers coming back. We strive relentlessly, for products and
services which delight our customers assuring loyalty and future
success. Product Development is a failure factory. All failure present
and future has its’ root in PD. With so much riding on product
development and the ever increasing complexity of our products and
services, how do we decrease the potential for failure and
simultaneously, increase our velocity to market?
March 21st - Dinner Meeting
The Need to Go Beyond Lean
As technology advances, and
products and markets evolve, it is important for manufacturing strategy
to keep pace with these changes. In addition, an effective strategy
needs to be supported by a precise methodology and appropriate tools.
Although Lean Manufacturing has been successful in many situations, we
need to understand that Lean strategy and Lean tools may not work well
in other cases. In fact, as we look to the markets of the future, it
becomes apparent that we need to go beyond Lean.
March 23rd - Technical Seminar
Human Error and Error Proofing
Subjects which have not received the attention deserved in the Quality
community. The Japanese however have pioneered with the application of
the basic concepts of Poka – Yoke (error proofing) to improving quality
and preventing defects. The March Technical Seminar explored the
fundamental concepts and approaches. Some applications in manufacturing,
everyday living, business processes, and medicine were examined.

Understand how a district level strategic plan drives improvement at the
site level
Is this a school talking or is this a business? Believe
it - it’s a school. In this fast-paced presentation you will learn more
about the quality processes used by the Pewaukee School District to
improve student achievement, operational efficiency, customer service
levels, and community perception of our schools.

Team Building - BUILDING A MOTIVATED TEAM by
Kinza Christenson - Professional Speaker/Seminar Leader
An integral part of the responsibilities for many Quality Engineers is parts qualification, whether the parts are manufactured in house or by a
supplier. A number of unexpected results occurred which lead to a search
for a method to better understand the underlining phenomenon. These
anomalies have been investigated using Monte Carlo simulation. The effect
of sampling on the parameter variation was studied. Recognized
nationally as “The Performance Pro, Kinza is a professional development
expert and a popular conference keynote speaker, columnist, author, and
radio personality. She works with organizations on integrating the DiSC
communication tool into their workplace culture and inspiring people
toachieve a “Hurray, it’s Monday” mindset through purpose, passion and
communi-cating more effectively.
